Play Space

We welcome babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers to enjoy unstructured play every day from 9am to 6pm. For your convenience and the comfort of the little ones we limit to ages zero to six years old. For one admission fee you can come and go all day. Some families go out for lunch or go home for naptime and return to play later in the day.

At Kidaru, we strive to create a warm, welcoming, nurturing environment which stimulates all areas of child development. In our play space little ones engage in both developing gross motor skills (through active climbing on our play structure, jumping on the trampoline, tumbling in the ball pit, riding toy cars, or playing ball) and fine motor skills (playing with blocks, puzzles, train set). They also love to engage in imaginative free play with our home/kitchen area, stuffed animals, dolls and toy shopping carts.

Of course, every child's favorite playmate is their caregiver. Play offers an ideal opportunity for parents to engage fully with their children. We encourage parents to get on the floor and connect with their kids on the child's level in the child's world. Let the child lead.

Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child. It is so essential because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children.

Children communicate through play. They "play out" their experiences and feelings. Unstructured play in a safe and protected space is the most natural and healing activity children can engage in.

Experts in psychology and neuroscience agree that there are many unique attributes of play, which makes it therapeutic:

  • play is voluntary and non-directive, in a world of rules
  • play is free from evaluation and judgement
  • it encourages fantasy and imagination
  • there is no competition, no end goal, no final product
  • play encourages the development of self

In today's high-speed structured world full of screens and artificial stimulation, children are often deprived of the opportunity to use their bodies, minds, and senses to explore the world around them, to discover who they truly are. At Kidaru, we give children opportunities to explore fully.
